The company says it is one of the first ink manufacturers to achieve climate neutrality which it is has done through its PROJECT GREEN initiative.

Describing how the company has been working to be sustainable, Marabu’s chief executive officer of the executive committee, York Boeder, says: “Climate protection is a particular concern for us, to which we have made a binding commitment within the scope of an extensive sustainability strategy.

“In accordance with our Marabu Green Deal, we avoid and reduce emissions wherever possible, for example by using green electricity, energy-saving schemes, mobility concepts or environmentally friendly materials.”

Boeder explains how the company also offsets all unavoidable CO2 emissions through supporting internationally certified climate protection projects.

All projects the company works with are certified to the Gold Standard CER (Certified Emission Reduction). One example is a climate protection project based in South America where the company supports a forest conservation project in Portel.

In addition to this, Marabu has experts which conduct daily research for environmentally friendly raw material replacements, and continuously works to develop low-emission products.

As a result of continued efforts to be green, Marabu has now pledged to reduce its CO2 emissions by a further 25% by 2030.
