With Mothering Sunday just passed, Epson has continued to raise awareness for charity partner the Human Milk Foundation (HMF).

After supplying the foundation with crucial label printers, both organisations have been raising awareness of the work carried out by HMF to tie in with Mother’s Day and the re-emergence of the charity’s activities following the pandemic.

At the start of the year, Epson announced it was supporting its charity partner with responsive label printing technology to help with the chain of custody for donated breast milk.

Epson donated a TM-C3500 ColorWorks label printer along with labels from Magnum Materials that can withstand pasteurisation temperatures of 65 degrees, and freezing temperatures of minus 22 degrees.

The HMF is the largest supplier of donor human milk in England and Wales and distributes donor human milk to babies in hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and families at home, helping mums with conditions like cancer through The Hearts Milk Bank.

The Bank has supported over 400 families facing feeding challenges and supplies milk to over 50 NHS hospital NICUs.

Speaking about Epson’s label technology donation, Flic Webster, HMF’s director of communications, says: “Reliable printers producing accurate, customised labels are crucial to the continuity of our service. Last month alone we printed over 9,000 labels so having equipment we can rely on is essential.

Specially printed gifts produced by Epson and HMF include mugs, tote bags, and phone cases

“Printing clear and precise labels with supporting documentation is critical to the timely processing and delivery of donor milk and the Epson label printer helps us to streamline our operations.”

Webster continues: “Every bottle of donor milk needs the correct label to ensure it can be tracked at any point from arrival at the milk bank, through pasteurisation and microbiology screening, freezing and dispatch to hospitals and families.”

Epson and the HMF have also recently produced a range of special dye-sublimated gifts available from the HMF’s online store.

Epson has put together a series of gift sample packages to raise awareness of the range, and the quality produced via dye-sublimation.

The HMF’s new range of gifts include new designs from students at Hertfordshire-based school Longdean, all of which are sustainably sourced and produced in the UK.

All proceeds from the online gifts go straight to the HMF, helping the organisation with increased demand as other milk donor charities have been forced close since the pandemic.
