Control costs and quality
Today’s key market driver is to control costs and quality. The focus is on how to achieve these and still deliver a quick return on investment. Horizon’s range of smart binding lines can help attain these goals. They can be tailored to suit the customer and future proofed to support growth.
Horizon has a reputation for high quality systems with significant residual values even after years of heavy use and this helps the ROI calculations. But the main consideration is ease of use, modular systems and flexible operation.
The new addition to the Horizon portfolio is the Horizon BQ-500 four-clamp perfect binder. It responsively supports a broader range of run lengths thanks to its unique combination of productivity, efficiency and operator friendly features.

Building on the successful tried and trusted features of its BQ-470 and BQ-480 predecessors, the BQ-500’s enhanced functionality includes smoother, faster and more highly automated set up via a large 12.1” colour touchscreen, as well as 21 automated sections from cycle and milling speed to roller height and guide positioning.
It also offers memory storage of up to 999 jobs, pre-installed variable software capability and variable thickness production of 5mm up to 800bph.
The new system is also one of the first to be pre-installed with Horizon’s cloud-based iCE LiNK workflow. It provides access to an intuitive easy to use dashboard that reports real-time production analysis for improved efficiency and profitability, remote update capabilities and scheduled maintenance resulting in less downtime.
True cost of ownership

Quality binding equipment provides for the best quality of work from day one, and a machine that will last for a good number of years. In other words, a machine that will pay for itself by providing a consistent revenue stream. How often have we all heard the mantra “buy cheap, buy twice”?
When assessing a purchase, the printer needs to examine the true cost of ownership of the product – that includes the reliability of the machine; the ease of operation – do you need a qualified operator; the cost, the need, and the availability of servicing; the cost of spares; likely years of service that the machine will provide; as well as the actual price of the unit.
With printing technology for book production undergoing such radical change over the last decade, it has been essential for the post-press world to make equally large leaps forward with regard to the capabilities of the product being produced.
Quality binding equipment provides for the best quality of work from day one ”
For Morgana Systems, as a leading finishing equipment producer, this has happened on two key fronts: our range of high-end bookletmakers and our popular PUR binding products.
Bookletmakers have been redefined with the introduction of products from Morgana capable of folding and stitching publications of up to 224 pages, with an optional capability of creating a square back to the finished product, giving that perfect bound look.
A second more significant change in post-press book binding, however, has seen the development of short-run PUR binding products over recent years, led by the Morgana DigiBook range. Within the range we offer a variety of production speeds to suit almost all print businesses.
