The price increase will impact customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
The price hike will be effective from March 1st and is in response to raw material shortages, including petrochemical, vegetable oils and derivatives, as well as a dramatic rise in international freight transport costs.
Sun Chemical also says demand due to economic recovery was a contributing factor for the cost increases in its raw material feedstocks.
The ink supplier says it is working hard to mitigate rising costs by implementing internal improvement programs and maintaining close communication with its suppliers and industry associations to ensure it is fully aligned to the latest procurement situation.
Nicolas Bétin, director of product strategy EMEA at Sun Chemical, adds: “The pressure across the supply chain is causing an abrupt rise in raw material costs and unfortunately requires us to increase customer prices.
“We will continue to work with our sourcing partners to manage and minimise the impact on our customers.”
Sun Chemical will communicate specific increases directly with its customers.
