Construction on the new US facility will start in April 2021 and is scheduled for completion by 2022.

Demand for inkjet print products has increased significantly in recent years, with markets such as printed packaging, commercial printing and publishing printing driving this trend.

In particular, Fujifilm has identified a growing need to use water-based pigment inkjet inks, which have a lower environmental impact than other inks and also have the potential to meet requirements for food packaging safety compliance.

Ian Wilkinson, president and chief operating officer at Fujifilm Imaging Colorants, comments: “Expansion of our manufacturing capacity is part of a commitment to ensure we can meet increasing demand to support our global customer base.

“We are already manufacturing a very high-quality, high-purity product in the UK. In this venture we are using the design and project management expertise of our UK team to execute this project in the US.

“This, alongside expert knowledge, technology and processes will ensure that we manufacture Reactive Dispersant dispersions to the same exceptional standard across both sites.”
